Peak Mental Performance Training Program

What is Peak Mental Performance?

Peak Mental Performance is about maximising the brain’s ability to attend, focus, concentrate, memorise and learn. These processes need to be performed effectively, quickly and with minimal effort.

What is Peak Mental Performance Training?

Peak Mental Performance Training is a program devised to help students, business professionals, athletes, vocalists, dancers and musicians acquire the skills necessary for their brain to function at its maximum potential using state of the art technology to improve mental processes.

If your brain does not readily receive, accurately interpret and instantly respond with appropriateness and precision, high performance cannot occur.  What your brain cannot learn to do, you will not do.  When our brain has adequately improved its efficiency, our moment-to-moment ability to function at higher levels "just happens;" no additional effort is required on our part and, just as we jump on a bike years later and our brain "recalls" how to do it, our brain and nervous system remembers what it has learnt.

What is the purpose of the training?

To overcome the emotional and mental factors that are obstacles to excellence in performance. Peak Mental Performance Training is customised to assist the individual to improve their skills for performance, whether that be in their job, academically or sports.  Thoughts affect performance, and performance affects thought…. becoming aware of this connection is a critical step in taking control over your own performance.

Peak Mental Performance Training is essential to achieve your potential by improving:
    • Concentration
    • Attention
    • Memory
    • Learning
    • Self Confidence
    • Assertiveness
    • Self Control
    • Reducing Stress & Frustration
    • Reducing Anxiety & Fear

Peak Mental Performance Training assists with:

    • Studies
    • Examinations
    • Performance
    • Motivation
    • Decision Making

HOW IT WORKS

At the Listen And Learn Centre we help people from all walks of life to train their mind through a customised combination of the following programs:

1. Neurofeedback Training

Neurofeedback, or EEG Biofeedback uses advanced computer feedback technology to reinforce optimal brain states particularly those associated with higher levels of attention, focus and mental relaxation. Neurofeedback trains an individual to concentrate while receiving visual and auditory feedback from a computer. The exercises stimulate desired brainwave patterns and when these patterns are practiced, you can learn to move at will between brain states. This, in turn, supports success in different kinds of activities resulting in a major increase in learning and task efficiency.

2. Interactive Metronome Training

Interactive Metronome (IM) is a patented technology that uses an auditory guidance system with interactive exercises to accurately measure and improve a person’s timing, concentration, focus, coordination and mental processing speed. Studies have shown that this program improves cognitive as well as physical skills essential for learning and development. Nearly a decade of research has shown a correlation between IM training and academic achievement in areas such as mathematics, language, reading and attention to task.

3. Auditory Stimulation Training

Auditory Stimulation training uses the latest technology based on scientific research showing that auditory training stimulates the auditory pathways to the brain thereby improving the individual’s auditory processing abilities. This enhances listening skills, auditory memory and attention while reducing stress and anxiety.

4. Heart Rate Variability Training

Research has shown that emotions are reflected in hearth rhythm patterns. The analysis of Heart Rate Variability has been recognized as a powerful non-invasive measure that reflects heart-brain interactions and autonomic nervous system dynamics, which are particularly sensitive to changes in the emotional state. This program teaches the individual how to intentionally shift their mind to a positive emotional state. This is essential for optimal learning and performance.

5. Coaching and Mental Preparation Training

Led by a Psychologist, this training teaches the individual through mental preparation, rehearsal and guided imagery, to create a state of being that is most suitable for peak performance. This training focuses on replacing old maladaptive thought patterns with new positive ones. This mental preparation helps to create a template or blueprint of achievement.

This combination of modalities creates a synergistic effect that is greater and more wide-reaching than any one modality by itself.

Does Peak Mental Performance Training "wear off?"

Peak Mental Performance Training is not a "treatment" whose benefits will decrease over time. It is a learning process that will continue to benefit long after the program has been completed because “you are training your brain to work in a different way” and like riding a bicycle, once you have learnt it you do not forget it.

How do I undertake a Peak Mental Performance Training Program?

Following an assessment at the Listen And Learn Centre, a training protocol is devised to suit each individual. Normally a program is undertaken 2 hours weekly or 4 hours fortnightly. Recommended program duration is 10 weeks. To learn more please attend a free information session.
