Multi Sensory Structured Literacy and Language (MSL) program
The Orton Gillingham method incorporates a combination of multi-sensory, phonics and kinesthetic techniques. The Orton-Gillingham approach is an intensive program in reading, spelling, writing and comprehension for children with learning disabilities like dyslexia.
The Multisensory Structured Literacy and Language (MSL) program is delivered by a trained practitioner.
A story appeared in The Age in Melbourne on 31st January 2016 about 9 year old Riley who experienced reading difficulties. Riley was diagnosed with dyslexia and undertook an Multisensory Structured Language program. The Orton Gillingham Multisensory Literacy and Language program is offered by practitioners trained in Australia by organisations such as the Australia Dyslexia Association or a range of other accredited organisations in the USA. Alexie Better at the Listen And Learn Centre is accredited as a provider of the Multisensory Literacy and Language program in Melbourne Australia.
The Multi-Sensory Literacy and Language program is generally only available as a private tuition service, however Bentleigh West Primary School is one school in Victoria that offers the program in school.
