Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a method in which a magnetic field is used to modulate electric current in a specified region of the brain. During this procedure, a magnetic “coil” is placed over the head of the person receiving the treatment, delivering a changing electric current to the coil. This changing current in the coil can assist in the regulation of certain patterns of brain activity.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is used to treat symptoms of severe depressive complaints and obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD).
